Brain Injury Waikato provides a variety of events and meetings including support groups, education and information sessions, workshops that are free for the community. 

Brain Injury Support group meetings

We invite all people living with a brain injury, their family/whaanau and other support people to join us at one of our meetings.

If you are new to attending a group, we do ask that you register so we know that you are coming along. We would love to get to know you and ensure that you feel supported at our groups.

Support groups can provide a sense of belonging, make social connections, and share ideas, learn and deepen understanding for recovery and ask questions. It is a safe place to share, listen and give and get support surrounded by people who understand or are walking a similar path.

Our regular support groups are:

3rd Tuesday of the Month

Hamilton Brain Injury Support Group:
4th Thursday of the month

Tokoroa Brain Injury Support Group:

Taupo Brain Injury Support Group:

Advancing Brain Injury Research & Rehabilitation Seminar

Open to allied health professionals and community organisations supporting individuals and whanau affected by brain injury

Education Sessions/workshops

Our brain injury education groups support people to live well after a traumatic brain injury (TBI). The sessions provide clear, easy-to-understand information about how brain injury can affect thinking, emotions, behaviour, and daily life. Participants learn new skills and practical strategies to help manage challenges, build confidence, and get the best out of life after a brain injury.

The groups also provide a strong sense of belonging and connection. They are a safe and supportive place to meet others, ask questions, share ideas, and learn together. People can listen, share their experiences, and give and receive support alongside others who understand or are walking a similar path.
